In addition to being an attorney who is a member of the Bar Association of Madrid, José Luis López has been an official Spanish industrial property agent since the end of the 90s, at which time he passed the aptitude test organised by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
He participated in drafting a number of articles relating to this area of Law and, in particular, in relation to the protection of designs in the world of fashion. He has also given lectures on the subject organised by entities such as the Foundation for Promoting Research (CEFI) or the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office.
He has also been part of the training panel for the aptitude test to be certified as an official Spanish industrial property agent.

Experience
José Luis has participated as an attorney in a number of lawsuits relating to industrial property rights, and of those suits a few of them are highlighted below:
- Award of compensation for more than € 16,000,000 for a client of the firm and the sentencing of a competitor for having infringed a Spanish patent.
- As a result of how well he handled the case, José Luis was successful in getting a client Spanish to be recognised as the owner of a very important coffee trademark against the appropriation attempts made by a Portuguese competitor that had recreated the trademark in Portugal. In this case, the compensation was form more than € 800,000.
- Success in enforcing the famous telephony trademark UNI 2 against the clear violation by trademark with a similar name established in the Basque Country.
- Participation in the defense of trademarks 5J for food products of an Iberian origin, JVC in the audio-visual sector, Camper in the footwear sector and Festina and Lotus, prestigious watch brands.
- José Luis’s obvious commercial skills have made him the natural contact at H&A for clients such as Festina Lotus and Osborne.
- Speaker in the Sport Business Congress.
- Professor in a preparatory master’s course for the exam to become an official industrial property agent organised by COAPI (Spanish Association of Official Industrial Property Agents).
- FICE presentations co-organised with the CGPJ (General Council of the Spanish Judiciary).
- Industrial property professor for training courses organised by the INEM (National Employment Institute).
